Limestone County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet to be held June 14
April 19, 2025The 2025 Limestone County Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremony will be held June 14 at the Veterans Museum in Athens. The event will begin at 6:00 pm with dinner and the ceremony beginning afterwards.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at the United Way of Athens-Limestone County. The phone number for United Way is (256) 233-2323. Cost for the tickets is $40 per person.
LCSHOF To Host Martha Joe Memorial Golf Tournament
April 19, 2025The annual Martha Joe Leonard Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on June 12 at Southern Gayles Golf Club and Grill. The four-man scramble format is hosted by the Limestone County Sports Hall of Fame with proceeds going to funding college scholarships for local high school students.
Tee time is scheduled for 1:00 pm with lunch being served prior to the tournament starting.Cost to enter the event is $600 per team.

LCSHOF Announces 2025 Class
April 19, 2025The Limestone County Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors is pleased to announce its class for the 2025 Hall of Fame. The 2025 class is comprised of seven former athletes, coaches and administrators. The induction ceremony for this year’s class will be held June 14 at the Veterans Museum in Athens. The induction ceremony begins at 6:00 and tickets can be purchased at the United Way of Athens-Limestone County.
The 2025 inductees include the following:
Pam Brown – The former Athens High School basketball standout scored 1,234 career points in leading the Eaglettes to two state championships. AHS recorded a 116-22 record during Brown’s four-year career. She was one of only 1600 high school players nation wide to be nominated to the first ever McDonalds All American High School Girls Basketball Team.
Jill Clark – Clark was a three-sport star at Ardmore High School. She was named All-State in basketball in 1993 while averaging 22.1 points per game, 7.8 rebounds per game and 6.3 assists per game. She was also named to the All County and All-Area teams in softball and volleyball during her career at Ardmore High School. Clark was the starting centerfielder on the 1993 State Champion softball team.
Bobby Coggins – An outstanding point guard in basketball, Coggins helped lead Athens High School to three consecutive county championships while averaging 20.0 points per game during his senior year. He was a member of the Athens College basketball team that became the first college in the state of Alabama to win a game in the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Tournament.
Michael Crutcher – A former basketball standout at Elkmont High School, Crutcher led the Red Devils to the first Sub Regional appearance in school history. He would later play two years at Walker Community College before ending his basketball career at Samford University.
Keith Dunnavant – An author, filmmaker, sports writer and magazine writer, the Athens High School graduate has written several important and influential football books. He has written books on several sport icons such as Paul “Bear” Bryant, Bart Starr and Joe Montana. Dunnavant also authored the book ‘The Missing Ring’ which chronicled the undefeated 1966 University of Alabama football team.
Reshard Langford – Langford was an outstanding athlete who played four sports (football, track and field, basketball, and baseball) while a student at Tanner High School. He was First Team All-State selection in football while rushing for 1,459 yards and scoring 30 touchdowns during his senior season. He played football collegiately at Vanderbilt University and was a four-year starter at safety for the Commodores. He would later play in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions.
Jack Smith – A three-sport star for Athens High School, Smith helped lead the Eagles to a 11-1 record in football during his senior season. Smith was a member of the AHS basketball team that won the Area Championship the same year. He played two years of basketball at Snead State Community College averaging 15.0 points per game. He later earned a basketball scholarship to Troy State where he was a two-year starter averaging 18.0 points per game.
Limestone County Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors president Jeff Hodges says this year’s inductees are outstanding additions to the hall of fame. “We are once again pleased to honor and recognize an outstanding group of inductees who represented Limestone County well through their accomplishments in athletics and in the literary field,” said Hodges.
