Jim Beasley, Jr.
Jim Beasley played football at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee where he was the captain of the team. He played guard on offense and linebacker on defense. He was called "Pig Iron" by The Nashville Banner and his teammates and was one ofVanderbilt's all time greats.

Jim Beasley was much more than an athlete in his community. Athens College once had a football team and he purchased all of the uniforms. He gave Gold Medal winner and Hall of Fame inductee Evelyn Ashford and her coach the necessary money to go to her first big track meet. He sponsored junior baseball teams and several softball teams under the name of his company "Sweet Sue". He gave Athens State University the Beasley Field and much more. He also gave First Methodist Church the Beasley Center in Athens.

He established Sweet Sue Poultry, now ConAgra, Sweet Sue Kitchens, Beasley Produce, a local television cable system and many other businesses.

He was named "Man of the Year" and was president of almost every club and organization he touched.
