Wilson Blair

His voice has filled the airwaves during Athens High School football games for the past 47 seasons. Since 1972, he has been the eyes and ears of the Golden Eagles and Eaglettes basketball teams. For years, Wilson Blair has been better known as "the voice of the Golden Eagles."
His work as the Athens High School public address announcer and radio voice on WYNN as the color commentator for the Golden Eagles' football games has been the cornerstone of Blair's career at Athens High School.
During the early 1960s, Blair provided color commentary for the Limestone County Basketball Game of the Week. In the early 1970s, he volunteered as the public address announcer for the Athens High School basketball games.
In 1976, Blair was hired as the head maintenance person at Athens High School, where he remains to this day. He has had the opportunity to announce the Eaglettes' 69-game winning streak that cultivated in consecutive Class 5A state championships.
In addition to his radio and public address work at Athens High School basketball and football games, Blair traveled with the Athens College Bears from 1962-65 as an assistant with scores and colors. He has been the public address announcer for the Class A-2A State Track Meet for the past two years and a volunteer with the Athens-Limestone County Special Olympics.
